The Club Course

At Bertie your success is our priority. We aim to provide quality training and the classes are well thought out an evaluated regularly. Based in Oadby, there is ample car parking available, with disabled access and facilities. If we cannot meet your needs in one of the following classes then a "Home-Visit" may be appropriate. (Click here)

PUPPY SOCIALISATION

Puppies experience a critical period between 4 and 12 weeks of age. We offer members the opportunity to socialise their puppies as soon as they wish to bring. As all dogs at the club are fully vaccinated any risk to your puppy is minimal. You should however always seek advice from your Veterinary Surgeon.

Bertie offer Socialisation sessions,  between 8.00 - 8.30 pm at the Walter Charles Centre, Wigston Rd, Oadby. Currently (Friday nights).

Members are advised to attend as many sessions as possible as as this will not only enhance your dogs training but you will feel more confident and part of the group and therefore less inhibited.

We value this early socialisation  so much that it is provided to you free of charge when you enrol on a Beginner Course. You will save up to £30 on similar run courses held across the country. So why is it free? Simple, because we care and want your dog to have the best start possible.

Early Training is Crucial.

 BEGINNERS 7.00PM - 8.00PM - Cost £40

Please  note that enrolments from any dog that constitutes a "dangerous dog" such as the Pit Bull Terrier or a similar cross will not be accepted for legal reasons.

This is a 7/8 week course for any dog that is fully vaccinated. Ideally all dogs on this course will be assessed prior to commencement and numbers are limited to enable trainers to focus on individuals and provide quality training. If you experience problems a short private consultation can be offered on request.

The maximum limit for dogs is set at 12, however if we happen to be aware of difficult dogs in particular classes numbers will be restricted yet further. We do not believe in overloading ourselves and wish this experience to be a positive one for you and your dogs. The general tutor - dog ratio is 1:4, however this may vary from time to time given illness.

In the summer we offer an outdoor training course at Brockshill Country Park , a short distance from the club on the same road.
All courses are planned in advance and evaluated regularly, enabling us to maintain our high standards of training.

The areas covered within this class include: not pulling, sitting , lying down, stand (optional), coming back when off the lead, socialisation, dominance, health, and general welfare. This will enable you to give your dog a well balance, non pressured learning experience resulting in a fruitful relation between dog and owner.

This course also offers a free session during week 4 specifically designed for children to enable them to help share, with you, the responsibility of having a well behaved pet. Medals are given to all participants. This session is run by Jo who is ably assisted by my children. Please note that this is demand based as we don't always have children attending.

Enrolments by Post

Are welcome but please do not assume that you do not have to attend the the club until the course begins. These sessions give us a chance to assess your dog and put right any problems we observe well before the training starts. Also many friendships develop during the social sessions as they are stress free and light hearted. If you have a rescue dog please inform us of this and how long you have had the dog, along with details of where it came from on the reverse of the enrolment form. If you have any major or minor concerns such as aggression, car chasing you must let us know.

NB If your dog is aggressive please bring it to the club wearing a muzzle and ring us to and let us know you will be coming

INTERMEDIATE 8.30 PM - 9.30 PM
This  is a 7/8 weeks course for people who have attended the  Beginners course, and provides the opportunity for members to consolidate their training and to progress onto higher level  exercises to enable a smooth transition into the advanced class.
