Review Four

I took my young dog (aged 6 months at the time) on the Sheep Socialisation course run by Nij Vyas, because she had started chasing my neighbours chickens and I had little control over her in that situation, and my local obedience trainers had not been able to help me. I was very pleased with the help Nij provided, he has a great understanding of how dogs think and why they behave in the way that they do, and he is able to give the owner tips to follow to ensure success and a good relationship with the dog... The methods used do not involve punishing the dog, or letting it get away with bad behaviour, but using pressure from the human's body language to communicate the human's desires to the dog in a way that the dog can understand and respond appropriately to.
I only wish I lived close enough to Bertie dog training to continue my dog's general obedience training there on a weekly basis! However, as she is a herding breed of dog, I hope to be back for some sessions to train her to actually work sheep in the future. Thanks Nij.
