Herding Dogs
Does your dog change personality when you leave the house?
There are many breeds of dog that are used for herding and protecting livestock and we strongly believe that by putting your dog in touch with the instincts they were born with will enhance their trust in you and subsequently strengthen you bond with your dogs more so than just obedience training.
We currently provide herding taster days for many breeds clubs with dogs such as Border Collies, Bearded Collies, Australian Shepherds, German Shepherds, Pyrenean Sheep Dogs, Vallhunds, Rottweillers and so on.
Give your dog a purpose in life and it will be far more contented than if you simply offer control.
Working Sheep to enhance your dogs fitness
There is no doubt that many breeds of dog are workaholics and excel in a number of different areas such as agility, obedience, fly-ball and son on. Increasingly we are attracting competitors who compete in these disciplines to bring their dogs for sheep work as it is ideal for building strength and stamina in your dogs and will ensure your dogs are in peak condition for competition.

Educational Visits to Schools and Colleges
Communication plays a vital role in dog training and shepherding with dogs. Our visits to schools and colleges are invaluable in teaching children of all ages the principles involved in successfully communicating with animals and the processes involved. Our visits to city and county schools are very popular amongst teaching staff and children alike. They provides a marvellous opportunity for us to bring a little bit of traditional country life into areas which otherwise would be deprived of such experiences. Education opportunities should invoke imagination and provide fun and enjoyment for children as well as hands on experience.
Here are some of the comments from children at Brookside Primary school Oadby. Leicestershire:
Dear Mr Vyas
Thank you for coming to Brookside Primary School and giving us a wonderful demonstration on our field.I enjoyed the demonstration of how man communicates with dog. Your dogs are very obedient and I imagine you can trust them to do the job very well. I liked Skye's demonstration the best , she was clever when she hid behind us and the car. I also liked the other dogs. The youngest dog always stood up when you cam by her . The sheep were a bit funny when they were being herded and they were moving and eating the grass at the same time.
Yours sincerely

Dear Mr Vyas
thank you for coming to our school and giving us a wonderful demonstration of sheepdogs herding sheep.I really liked it when when you whistled instructions and your dogs followed them immediately. I enjoyed the demonstration because your dogs were very obedient. It is great to see humans communicating with animals.

Dear Nij,
This is a short and belated thank you for a fascinating day spent with you a couple of weeks ago. Although we had both had some experience with the psychology of working with animals through ownership and partnership with various horses over the years, as well as various cats, and in Sarah's case a family dog when she was young, we found your methods of working with your collies truly remarkable.
The biggest revelation for me was that these were all truly working dogs, whose focus was exclusively on the sheep and in working with you to achieve the desired results. It was difficult for us to try to put into practice everything that you were telling us, but in reality the main satisfaction and enjoyment that I got from the day was from watching you exercise your craft and learning some of your methods and psychology from you. It was truly impressive to see how your dogs worked in a firm and responsive manner, whilst at the same time keeping the sheep relaxed and seemingly in a state of minimal stress.
Sarah and I found the day with you both educational and thoroughly enjoyable and wish you all the very best.
Good luck with the competitions.
Best wishes
Cris and Sarah Howard
